Exercise W35: Standing Scales
Complex combination exercise: Strengthening of calves and glutes, balance in a one-legged stand, stretching the posterior muscle chain – exercise for advanced users. Beginners use EW8 or EW9.
Goal: Strengthening (stretching & balance)
Parameters: Frequency: 30 Hz to 36 Hz / Position 3.5-4.5 / Duration: 1-2 min / optional: Wobbel W2-W3
Procedure:
Basic position: Stand on Galileo turned by 90°, forefoot in position 4, raise heel!!!, straight knee, upper body bent forward by 90°, other leg & foot stretched, leg & upper body form a straight line, upper body is straight (no hunched back). Shoulders and hips remain parallel to the floor. If necessary for balance, one hand on the bar or on the back of a chair
Movement: Static. Make sure that both legs are straight and that the upper body is bent forwards by 90°. If this is not the case, then try to bend the upper body further during the exercise. The further the upper body is bent forwards, the more intense the stretch of the posterior muscle chain (EW6 and EW27 can also be used for preparation)
Repetitions: Repeat the exercise with the other leg.
Tip 1: To have better posture control, perform the exercise in front of a mirror
Tip 2: Beginners can also stand with the leg slightly bent (then the posterior muscle chain is stretched less).
Tip 3: To make the balance exercise even more challenging, Wobbel W2 or W3 can be used. EW21 can be used for preparation.
